When searching for the rival search engine’s name, Bing hides its own title from the page and displays an image reminiscent of Google’s iconic Doodles. The illustration is accompanied by the text: “Each search brings you closer to a free donation of over $2 million to non-profit organizations! Choose Microsoft Bing.” The result mimics the interface of the "Search Giant" and could serve as an alternative to keep users on Microsoft’s platform. By removing visual elements associated with Bing, the strategy appeals to users by encouraging them to earn points redeemable for donations through the Microsoft Rewards program. The adjustment was reported by the website Windows Latest and confirmed by Canaltech. However, this change only occurs when searching for the term “Google.” Searches for other Big Tech products, like Google Drive or Google Maps, still display the standard interface. The image can be removed by clicking the “X” icon, but the header with Bing’s name remains hidden. The report reached out to Microsoft for a comment on the matter but did not receive a response. Microsoft’s strategies to compete with Google This is not the first time Microsoft has taken a more aggressive stance to promote its services against Google. For instance, Microsoft Edge displays a prominent warning when users attempt to download Chrome. The company has also faced criticism for excessive pop-ups promoting Bing.
