AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Will Have a Clock Speed Similar to the Ryzen 9950X

A new benchmark leak from CPU-Z reveals that the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D will not have clock speed reductions like seen in previous “X3D” CPU generations. These earlier models typically lowered clock frequencies to manage cooling for the component and 3D cache stacking. In other words, the new processor will maintain the same clock speed as the Ryzen 9 9950X.

The leak comes from the @94G8LA profile on X (formerly Twitter). The post indicates a bus speed (BCLK) of 99.79 MHz with a core multiplier of 6.0–56.5x, theoretically providing a boost clock of approximately 5.6 GHz for the processor. This is 100 MHz lower than the boost clock of the Ryzen 9 9950X, a difference unlikely to significantly impact performance.

Other details align with rumors about the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, including its configuration of 16 cores, 32 threads, and 64 MB of L3 cache (96 MB total). This setup further enhances the component's gaming performance.

According to the leak, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D will have a power consumption of 170W and is manufactured using 4nm technology.

Launch of the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

It’s no secret that AMD is preparing to launch its Ryzen 9000 “X3D” CPUs, with an announcement expected at CES 2025. As with previous generations, we can anticipate architectural improvements, performance gains from the 3D V-Cache, and some structural changes.

Rumors suggest the AMD Ryzen 9000 “X3D” lineup will debut in January, but details about pricing and the specific models to hit the market remain unknown.
