The developers have been working exclusively on the Xbox Series and PC versions. In an interview with Tech4Gamers, the game’s director, Ievgen Grygorovych, confirmed that there are no plans to develop the game for Sony’s consoles and denied the existence of any temporary exclusivity deal with Microsoft consoles. “We were completely focused on developing (and now supporting) the versions released for PC and Xbox Series,” said Grygorovych. When asked about the possibility of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl arriving on the PS5 or an optimized version for the PS5 Pro, the director emphasized that the studio does not address any unofficial information. “We do not comment on leaks, rumors, or speculations. Once again, the versions released for PC and Xbox Series of STALKER 2 are the only ones we have developed and are supporting.” A long wait for STALKER 2 It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will never be released for PS5, nor that the studio is distancing itself from Sony. The statement refers solely to the game’s development, which wasn’t focused on that platform and isn’t in their plans at the moment. Microsoft supported the entire development of STALKER 2, which underscores GSC Game World’s gratitude in maintaining exclusivity for the Xbox platform. However, this exclusivity isn’t expected to last forever. Considering that STALKER 2 was announced in 2010 and only launched in 2024, it’s safe to say that a PS5 version won’t be coming anytime soon.
