Se pare ca se canalizeaza foarte multa atentie in directia puterii video al noului HTML, mai ales ca iPad nu are suport pentru Flash. HTML 5 va fi mai bun pentru videoclipuri, iar flash-ul se va descurca foarte bine la jocuri. Aparent, HTML 5 va fi un motor pentru jocuri mai puternic decat ne putem imagina noi deocamdata.

Ca o demonstratie a puterii de procesare a noului HTML 5 integrat in browser, cativa ingineri de la Google Web Toolkit au "exportat" in HTML 5, clasicul FPS, Quake II.

Aplicatia open source este scrisa in Java pentru Quake, si este denumita Jake2. Explicatiile creatoriilor au aparut deja pe blogul Google ( http://googlewebtoolkit.blogspot.com/2010/04/look-ma-no-plugin.html ):

We started with the existing Jake2 Java port of the Quake II engine, then used the Google Web Toolkit (along with WebGL, WebSockets, and a lot of refactoring) to cross-compile it into Javascript. You can see the results in the video above — we were honestly a bit surprised when we saw it pushing over 30 frames per second on our laptops (your mileage may vary)!
