Wi-Fi Alliance introduce 802.11ah HaLow

Wi-Fi Alliance este grupul din spatele standardului Wi-Fi, iar recent a decis sa introduca un nou standard, 802.11ah HaLow, in incercarea de a rezolva o problema din ce in ce mai frecventa, si anume refuzul producatorilor de dispozitive IOT (Internet Of Things) in a folosi cip-uri WiFi deoarece acestea ar necesita un consum mare de energie ce poate cauza probleme anumitor electronice. Astfel, 802.11ah HaLow este raspunsul Wi-Fi Alliance la standardele Bluetooth, noul standard putand fi folosit in viitoarele dispozitive inteligente precum tracker-ele de fitness, senzorii inteligenti sau alte gadget-uri.

802.11ah HaLow foloseste frecventa de 900MHz, consuma mai putina energie, viteza de transfer va fi ceva mai mica dar distanta de utilizare este dubla fata de 802.11n si ac, standarde ce folosesc niste frecvente mai ridicate precum 2,4GHz respectiv 5GHz. Se estimeaza ca certificarea produselor ce incorporeaza noul standard sa aibe loc prin 2018.
