Conform Guiness World Records, studiourile Rockstar Games au stabilit cu ajutorul titlului open-world Grand Theft Auto 5 nu mai putin de 7 recorduri, desi (nu involuntar) a fost lansat momentan doar pe doua platforme: Xbox 360 si PlayStation 3. Astfel, pana in prezent, GTA 5 detine urmatoarele recorduri:

  • Cel mai bine vandut action-adventure in 24 de ore;
  • Cel mai bine vandut joc in 24 de ore (11.2 milioane de exemplare);
  • Produsul de divertisment care a generat cel mai rapid 1 miliard de dolari;
  • Jocul video care a generat cel mai rapid 1 miliard de dolari;
  • Cele mai mari incasari in 24 de ore pentru un joc video;
  • Cele mai mari incasari in 24 de ore pentru un produs de divertisment;
  • Cel mai vizionat trailer pentru un action-adventure.
