Cel mai nou GPU de la AMD, Hawaii a fost introdus in doua placi video pana in momentul de fata: Radeon R9 290X si Radeon R9 290, care au obtinut un raport foarte bun calitate / pret. Odata ce placile video au fost puse spre vanzare, au aparut si cateva nemultumiri, unii utilizatori plangandu-se de performante inconstante in jocuri. AMD a analizat situatia si a descoperit problema, oferind si o solutie.
 
Asadar, am aflat ca performantele inconstante erau cauzate de tehnologia PowerTune care in Quiet Mode scadea turatia ventilatorului sub nivelul normal de 40% pentru a face economie, ceea ce devenea insuficient in jocuri si placa video isi scadea frecventele, implicit performanta.
Rezolvarea este destul de simpla, si anume un update de driver la: Catalyst 13.11 beta 9.2: :link:
