Acesta este asemanator cu Q9300, avand nucleu Yorkfield si 6MB cache L2, ceea ce este bine pentru ca va fi mai ieftin ca Q9450 si va suporta mai mult overclocking. Q9400 daca nu va fi cu mult mai scump decat Q9300 are mari sanse sa primeasca calificatibul "Best Buy", avand in vedere specificatiile sale (FSB 1333 MHz, viteza efectiva 2.66 Ghz, SSE 4.1 si cache 6MB) difera de Q9450 in marimea cache-ului.
